French die from Alcohol at a rate 57% greater than Americans
Interesting article exposes the French myth of being healthier and living longer when in fact the French die of alcohol related causes at a rate 57% greater than Americans. 43,000 French people die every year from alcohol related causes. This would be the proportional equivalent of 200,000 Americans dying every year from Alcohol which is more than twice the number that do so.
The best thing we can do for ourselves and other is to not drink alcohol or severly limit our consumption. No substance has caused more pain and suffering to families and society than alcohol consumption. The bars are filled on weekends with people who have given up on life and think they need an escape from it all. The irony is that there is no more submissive a move and admition of complete defeat and powerlessness than drowning yourself in a bottle and passing out on the floor. It is an admission that you are a nothing, just a cog on the wheel. Powerless to do anything about your life. If you struggle with alcohol problems as I used to here is a prayer that you can say everyday. Reclaim your hope and love. Reclaim your power.
I say this everyday and it works:
Prayer To St. Jude For Those Affected By An Addiction:
God of life, You made me in Your perfect image, to live in Your love and to give You glory, honor and praise. Open my heart to Your healing power. Come, Lord Jesus, calm the waters of my soul just as you whispered “Peace<” to the stormy sea. St. Jude, most holy apostle, in my need I cry out to you. I beg you to intercede for me that I may find strength to overcome my weakness. Bless all those who struggle with addiction. Touch them, heal them, reassure them of the Father’s constant love. Remain at my side, St. Jude, to chase away all evil temptations, fears, and doubts. May the quiet assurance of yyour loving presence illuminate the darkness in my heart and bring lasting peace. Amen.
