Scientists Create Human Sperm

Some British scientists claim to have created human sperm through the use of embryonic stem cells.  A laser was used to isolate the male stem cells and then they were grown in a dish.  The scientists watched the cells split, divide, and then push out a head and tail.  Professor Karim Nayernia was the scientist who led the experiment and said that this could be used for infertile males.  They went even further in the article and said that eventually they would be able to produce this from a female and produce a completely fatherless child.

They have already fertilized mice with this process and all of the mice died shortly after birth.  Josephine Quintavalle, director of Comment on Reproductive Ethics, said  “This is man at his maddest,” she said. “I think that sometimes we have to stop meddling and accept infertility. Science must be totally ethical and totally safe – this is neither.”

I bet liberal feminist Nazi’s will be elated at this news.  However, it appears that it will be a long way off.  How do you explain to a child that would be conceived in this way the meaning of life and the meaning of their creation?  “Well my sweet little science experiment I’m your mommy and your daddy.  Just call me maddy.  bwahahahahaha.”

I see this as another assault on the sanctity of life and the sanctity of the family.  There is hope as a leading expert with 20 years experience as a sperm biologist, Dr Allen Pacey said “As a sperm biologist of 20 years’ experience, I am unconvinced from the data presented in this paper that the cells produced by Professor Nayernia’s group from embryonic stem cells can be accurately called ’spermatozoa’. While the cells produced may possess some of the distinctive genetic features and molecular markers seen in sperm, fully differentiated human spermatozoa have specific cellular morphology, behaviour and function that are not described here.”

I will pray for the failure of these scientists.

I share your dismay and horror.

And yet I cannot believe God would let us get that far. Not to say we shouldn’t condemn this waste of scientists’ money, time, and resources. However, for a completely fatherless and motherless child to be brought to fruition somehow–well, I liken it to this.

The second coming will end all that in a big hurry. Man will have crossed a line beyond which he cannot retreat. True, we’ve crossed innumerable lines before. Abortion, the nearest gov’t-sanctioned practice to be an eschatological trigger till this point in our history, is all about destroying lives. Humans have been murdering since Cain. Abortion, though on logo-rhythmic scale, is no match for the creative realm that is strictly the province of the Father. That is something He will never allow.

I share your disbelief sometimes when I look around at some of the horrors taking place amongst us. However, I have to posit that God gave us a free will because he wanted his creation to love him of their own free choice. Forced love is not love. More and more I’m moved with sympathy towards those who participate in abortion as they often don’t understand the gravity of what they are involved in. We have to love them and pray for them. Especially we have to pray for those considering abortions that they recognize the life they have been given and make another choice. I was horrified recently when a person that I go to school with, a person who has two beautiful daughters, told me that his new girlfriend was pregnant and that they decided to keep it. It wasn’t the decision that horrified me but the laxity with which he had considered the abortion option. He talked so casually about it. To him and his girlfriend it was just one of the options available to a pregnant person. There was no thought about the sanctity of the life that was there. Amazing and sad.
